Nokia profits rise on Smartphone sales and cost-cutting

Nokia,the world’s largest maker of mobile phones, said on Thursday that itsprofit rose 60 percent in the fourth quarter as cost-cutting measuresand an increasing share of the smartphone market helped offset adecline in revenue.

The company also said it expectedindustry sales to climb 10 percent this year, signaling a buddingrecovery in one of the world’s main technology sectors.
