News:  Trekker Breeze Talking GPS gets major software update with lots of new functionality — Free upgrade to 1.2
by Ted Mc from BlindMind.net, 29 Apr 2010

Humanware today announced new a new free software upgrade for users of its Trekker Breeze talking GPS that will enable loads of new functionality for the little brother of the Trekker GPS.

The "What's Around"  has been greatly expanded in the new software release.  While you still can't plug in any desitnation, you can now receive detailed instructions to get to POI's (Points of Interest) either on the street you're on, or within a 5-mile radius from your current location by choosing POI categories.  This is a major added new feature to what was a fairly limited platform in contrast to the Trekker, which has much more advanced features.  By pressing the "What's Around" button, the Breeze will now announce the 50 closest POI's within 5 miles of your location, including restaurants, shops, pharmacies, and more, and then provide detailed directions to get you to the one you select.

The new software version also includes GPS positioning enhancements, improved TTS, and improvements for UK users.

A full list of additions to the Trekker Breeze can be found by downloading the What's New in Breeze 1.2 document.
